Evelynton Plantation is an estate located on the north bank of the James River in Charles City County, Virginia. It is located along State Route 5, a scenic byway which runs between the independent cities of Richmond and Williamsburg. Evelynton is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Evelynton Plantation was originally part of William Byrd's expansive Westover Plantation. Named for Byrd's daughter, Evelyn, this site has been home to the Ruffin family since 1847. The 2,500 acre (10 km²) farm is still family-owned and operated. ==Visitation== The house and grounds are closed at this time. It was sold sometime in the last few years after Mr. Edmund Ruffin Saunders past away. A family relocated from Florida to Evelynton Plantation and it is now the primary and private residence.
